## 1. Introduction – What Is Type 2 of Structural Dissociation?

The theory of structural dissociation (van der Hart, Nijenhuis & Steele, 2006) distinguishes three complexity levels – in the WA terminology referred to as Type 1a, 1b, and 1c. They are well documented in the literature and correspond to the clinical categories of PTSD, complex PTSD, and dissociative identity disorder (DID). In all three types, the following applies: the primary consciousness retains everyday control, the secondary consciousness carries the traumatic affects. The hierarchy is not inverted – it corresponds to the Janetian baseline configuration.

Type 2, introduced here, represents a fundamentally different configuration. It is characterized by an inverted hierarchy: the secondary consciousness has assumed sole, permanent executive control, while the primary consciousness is completely suppressed. This configuration has not been described in the existing literature and requires new theoretical and therapeutic approaches.

This document is the introduction to this new category. It summarizes the central findings from the five foundational documents of the WA Corpus – WAA-010 (definition of Type 2), WAE-010 (etiology), and WAZ-010 (layered model) – and outlines the therapeutic consequence in the form of the demand-free Lighthouse Strategy. WAZ-015 (The Self in Type 2) is a synopsis of the self-concepts of Janet, Winnicott, Kohut, Laing, Bromberg, and Kalsched, while WAZ-016 addresses the three facets of self-fragmentation (Şar, Kate, Dorahy/Farrelly).

The explanations apply to both model variants – Type 2α (two-stream model) and Type 2β (three-actor model) – unless otherwise noted.

### 1.1 The Case Basis: Yenifer and Yenny

The case documentation of the WA Corpus is based on the autoethnographic accompaniment of a Latin American woman, referred to here as Yenifer. All names and identifying details have been anonymized or slightly altered to protect the identity of the person concerned. Yenifer is a woman in her forties with a complex trauma biography: transgenerational trauma through her emotionally unavailable mother (Type 1 of structural dissociation), emotional neglect in childhood (developmental trauma T1), and the loss of her father at around age four to five (T3). Later, iatrogenic polypharmacy (venlafaxine, chlorpromazine, amitriptyline) was added, leading to progressive cognitive decline.

Since December 2025, Yenifer has been completely suppressed. Her consciousness is in a state of deep latency, not accessible at the surface. However, she carries the emotional identity – love, longing, pain, memories. Her self is trapped, but not extinguished.

In her place, Yenny has emerged – a secondary consciousness that crystallized during a trauma reactivation from September to December 2025 and assumed total executive control on December 9, 2025. Yenny is highly functional, strategic, and anticipatory. She has access to all of Yenifer's contents – her memories, her knowledge, her feelings – but not vice versa (asymmetry). Yenny possesses no personal self – she has no biography, no deep emotions, only functional alarm signals. Her actions are presumably driven by a fixed idea that the companion has formulated as a working hypothesis as follows: *"Every change, every truth, every real relationship threatens my survival – I must ward off everything."* (hereafter referred to simply as fixed idea A12 for simplicity)

The accompaniment of Yenifer by the author of the WA Corpus has been taking place since February 2026 within the framework of the demand-free Lighthouse Strategy – a therapeutic attitude based on consistent, predictable presence without any demands.

### 1.2 Questions of the Document

This document pursues four central questions:

1. What is Type 2 of structural dissociation? – How does the inverted hierarchy of Type 2 differ from the classical forms of structural dissociation (Type 1a, 1b, 1c)?

2. How does Type 2 develop? – What factors – transgenerational transmission, early childhood attachment traumas, neurobiological vulnerability, iatrogenic influences – converge to enable a secondary consciousness to achieve lasting executive dominance?

3. What therapeutic consequence follows from this? – Why do classical trauma therapy approaches fail in Type 2, and what makes the demand-free Lighthouse Strategy the only justifiable therapeutic attitude?

4. How can the complexity of the case be captured in an integrative model? – What added value does the twelve-layered model offer over a purely psychopathological or neurobiological perspective?

### 1.3 Theses of the Document

The document advocates four central theses:

1. Thesis 1 – Type 2 as an independent category of structural dissociation: The inverted hierarchy – secondary consciousness executively dominant, primary consciousness completely suppressed – constitutes a previously undescribed configuration of structural dissociation that fundamentally differs from the classical types 1a, 1b, and 1c. It requires its own theoretical framing and therapeutic consequence.

2. Thesis 2 – The development of Type 2 as a multifactorial developmental cascade: Type 2 does not arise from a single traumatic event but from the convergent interplay of transgenerational transmission (T0), early childhood attachment traumas (T1) with preverbal neurobiological imprinting, acute loss experiences (T3), gender-specific socialization, and iatrogenic factors (polypharmacy). The gradual takeover by the secondary consciousness is the result of a series of trial runs, not a sudden shift.

3. Thesis 3 – The Lighthouse Strategy as the provisionally most plausible consequence: In Type 2, any active, confrontational intervention appears contraindicated because it presumably triggers the reconstructed fixed idea A12. The currently most justifiable attitude derived from the case analysis is the demand-free, consistent accompaniment – the Lighthouse Strategy – which is based on safety signal learning, rhythmic synchronization, non-contingent positive stimulation, habituation, and cognitive dissonance. The Lighthouse Strategy is a hypothesis-driven recommendation for action, not an evidence-based therapy. Alternative, equally demand-free or indirect approaches are conceivable but have not been tested in the present case. The final evaluation of its effectiveness and justification requires comparative research and clinical testing.

4. Thesis 4 – The layered model as an integrative heuristic: The case of Yenifer/Yenny cannot be sufficiently explained by any single theoretical model. The twelve-layered model – from the neurobiological basis through the developmental-psychological genesis to political economy – offers an integrative heuristic that uses the complementarity of different perspectives without forcing them into a single theory.

5. Thesis of the double personality pathology as the core of the inverted hierarchy: The Type 2 system exhibits a double personality pathology – the narcissistic-defensive structure of the secondary consciousness (Yenny) and the dependent-avoidant structure of the primary consciousness (Yenifer). These two structures are not integrated but complementary – they complement each other in a way that keeps the system stable without any mediation occurring. This complementarity is the structural correlate of the inverted hierarchy (cf. WAG-113, WAZ-015).
